New Delhi:
The Janata Dal-United (JD-U), a key BJP ally, on Wednesday announced it was going solo in the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls after seat-sharing talks with the BJP's top leaders collapsed.
"We will contest all the 403 seats in Uttar Pradesh and the list of more candidates will be issued in the coming days," Party leader and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) convenor Sharad Yadav told reporters while announcing a list of candidates for the polls.
Mr Yadav announced the first list of candidates for 32 seats for the assembly polls, stating that seat sharing talks with several key BJP leaders had failed.
""We had discussions with several top leaders in BJP like party chief Nitin Gadkari, Sanjay Joshi, Rajnath Singh but unfortunately the talks could not yield any result and they issued the list. So we have now decided to go ahead with our strategy to contest the election," Yadav said.
He however evaded a direct reply on post-poll alliance, stating "those are matters of future".
Yadav had earlier expressed displeasure on BJP inducting Babu Singh Kushwaha, former Uttar Pradesh minister of Bahujan Samaj Party government, an accused in the National Rural Health Management scam in the state.
