She's known for her fiery temper and rebellious nature, but Uma Bharti fired only at the opposition today while speaking to NDTV on BJP's prospects in assembly polls.
"I didn't want to say this during campaigning but now it is over so I can say it... I like Jyotiraditya Scindia. He has much better capacity than Rahul Gandhi," Ms Bharti said with a smile on her face.
When NDTV asked her to expand why she preferred the Congress' face in Madhya Pradesh to the party vice president, she said, "He is much more educated and has worked much harder. Rahul has the entire Congress propping him." Ms Bharti, who campaigned in 50 constituencies in the state, suggested that if Mr Scindia was leading the party, the Congress' prospects would be a lot better. Counting for the 230 Assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh will take place tomorrow.
Ms Bharti, who used to be Chief Minister and then quit the party when she had to step down only to make a comeback in 2011, said this round of election had also been a turning point for her in the party. "Now they know I am working for the party and not against them - trust deficit is over," she said.
The former union minister also took the opportunity to hit out at union minister Farooq Abdullah's sexist comment, but when asked what she made of her own colleagues like Kailash Vijay Vargiya who blamed women for being responsible for sexual crimes, she said "this is above party line matter - I condemn them all."
