Mumbai: The newly-elected legislators of the BJP in Maharashtra have been summoned to Mumbai for a meeting of the Legislature Party on Tuesday, October 28, said senior state party leader Vinod Tawde.
In the meeting, the MLAs will elect a new Legislature Party leader, Mr Tawde told media personnel today.
He also added that the BJP is in talks with the Shiv Sena over government formation in Maharashtra, saying, "The BJP wants to bring Sena into the alliance and form the government."
On the issue of allocation of portfolios, Mr Tawde said, "If we come together in our minds, then we can discuss portfolios".
The Sena and the BJP's decades-old alliance had come to an end before the state assembly elections, after seat-sharing talks between the two parties fell apart.
The BJP, which won 123 seats in the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly, emerged as the single largest party in the elections. It has already been offered unconditional outside support by the Nationalist Congress Party, which won 41 seats.
With its 63 MLAs, Shiv Sena is the second largest party in the House.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP in-charge of Maharashtra JP Nadda would attend Tuesday's meeting, as will senior leaders Om Mathur and Rajiv Pratap Rudy, said Mr Tawde.
