Kolkata:
From a politician to a painter, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has donned a new avatar. A representative collection of Ms Banerjee's paintings and sketches will be on sale today to raise funds for her party's poll campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Her paintings will be exhibited at her three-day solo show titled '25 Hours In A Day (Chapter III)' at a private Kolkata art gallery.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by noted painter Jogen Chowdhury.
Trinamool sources said 75 of her works would be on sale at the exhibition, organised by Jago Bangla - the party mouthpiece.
Ms Banerjee has apparently been painting non-stop for the last few days to put the show together.
The Left, meanwhile, dubbed her fund-raising exhibition as a political gimmick.
The first exhibition of the Trinamool chief's paintings was held in 2005 generating an amount of Rs four lakh.
The second exhibition was held in 2007 which garnered Rs 14 lakh, all of which went to the victims of Nandigram.
Most of her paintings are acrylic on canvas.
