Mathura: The district magistrate of Mathura has issued a notice to Union Minister Ajit Singh's son Jayant Chaudhary. This is after Mr Chaudhary was caught on camera exchanging wads of cash at an election rally in Uttar Pradesh. The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader was booked for violating the model code of conduct during the ongoing polls.

Mr Chaudhary, who is the MP from Mathura, was caught on camera taking Rs 70,000 from a local RLD leader, Kundan Singh, during an election rally. He then passed on the cash to his party candidate, Meshram Singh, who in turn returned the money to Mr Chaudhary, who eventually passed it on to his brother-in-law Shailendra Agarwal. The latter was accompanying the young MP on the campaign trail.

The Election Commission has seized crores of rupees in its attemps to clamp down upon the use of money to win elections.

The assembly constituencies that fall under Mathura will go to vote on the 28th of this month. The RLD holds a significant sway in these areas which fall in the western part of UP.
