Janata Dal (United) President, Sharad Yadav has said that there is only one front in Bihar, and that is the grand alliance of JD(U), RJD and Congress.
Dismissing the formation of a Samajwadi Party led third front in Bihar, the ruling Janata Dal (United) or the JD(U), has said that there is 'only one front' in the state, which is the grand alliance formed by their party in alliance with Lalu Prasad's Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress.
"There is only one front and that is of JD(U)-RJD- Congress. We don't comment on all these issues (on formation of SP-led front), but there exists only one front... ours," JD(U) president, Sharad Yadav said.
Days after pulling out of the grand alliance, the Samajwadi Party yesterday announced that it was forging a coalition along with Nationalist Congress Party, National People's Party and the Samajwadi Janata Dal (Democratic) to contest the upcoming assembly elections as the 'third front' in Bihar.
According to Mr Yadav, the JD(U) has finalised a list of candidates for the October-November polls, and is waiting to conclude seat-sharing talks with Congress.
"We have finalised our candidates. Only thing is discussion with Congress is going on. They (opposition parties) are declaring candidates in phases, we will do it in one go," said Mr Yadav.
With reports suggesting that Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar and RJD chief, Lalu Prasad unlikely to turn up at Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi's rally in Champaran tomorrow, Mr Yadav dismissed claims of bickering within the grand alliance.
He said, "These leaders are busy with ticket distribution and there is no time. Other leaders of our parties though are going to be there. There is nothing deliberate behind it."
The JD(U) leader said that the grand alliance will contest the polls on the issue of development and Mr Kumar's track record. He said, "Our chief minister has taken the state a long way along the path of development. We want to change the equation of politics in the nation."
