Barabanki: Over Rs 1.37 crore in cash, 10 kg of silver and six pistols along with live cartridges were recovered during a vehicle checking drive in view of the coming Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh elections.
One person was taken into custody in this connection, Superintendent of Police PRK Bhardwaj said.
The recoveries were made from eight different places of the district yesterday.
The cash has been seized as those carrying it were not able to produce documents related to it and the Election Commission and Income Tax department has been informed about it, the SP added.
In view of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls starting in February, the Election Commission has imposed restrictions on movement of unaccounted cash of over Rs one lakh.
