Rajasthan assembly polls: Prohibitory orders imposed in and around Jaipur
Jaipur: Police today imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 banning rallies, sit-ins, meetings and use of loudspeakers without prior permission in Jaipur and suburban areas as a precautionary measure ahead of Rajasthan Assembly polls scheduled for December 1.

The authority also put restrictions on defacing of public property, putting up of billboards and banners, and other activities related to polls.

For any such activity prior permission has to be obtained from the district collector or the police commissionerate, an official spokesman.

Restrictions were also placed on use of social media like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and WhatsApp, according to the prohibitory order.

Religious places like temple, mosque, church and gurudwara will not be allowed for use in any election related activity, the spokesman said, adding use of vehicles by leaders and political parties will also require prior permission.
