Congress President Sonia Gandhi will address an election rally in Haldwani in BJP-ruled Uttarakhand today. This will be her first rally after the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre failed to get the Lokpal Bill passed in Parliament last week.
The rally is likely to be watched keenly, especially after reports that Sonia Gandhi had asked her partymen to fight the Lokpal battle with team Anna and opposition parties politically.
Uttarakhand has already passed a Lokayukta law in the state, and chief minister BC Khanduri has drawn praise from Team Anna for the law. The rally will also be Sonia Gandhi's first after election dates were announced for five states including Uttarakhand and the politically crucial state of Uttar Pradesh.
