Thackeray vs Thackeray in Mumbai

Mumbai: It was a rare public appearance by the Shiv Sena's Bal Thackeray. He set out to vote with his son, Uddhav, in Bandra.

Missing from the family picture, Balasaheb's nephew, Raj, who, after fallout with Uddhav, now heads the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.

The Sena's patriarch, silent before cameras, chose to speak through his morning editorial in Saamna, which once again warned against splitting the Marathi vote.

The appeal may not have worked. Parts of Mumbai dominated by Raj's MNS like Dindoshi and Magathane indicate that he may cost the Shiv Sena big, just like he did in the general elections in May.

Promoting the idea that Raj could be kingmaker, Sharad Pawar said "Raj is more charismatic than Uddhav."

Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is fighting the elections in an alliance with the Congress, which has, so far, rejected the possibility of any support from Raj Thackeray.
