Bangalore:
Ahead of the May 5 Assembly polls in Karnataka, two candidates were arrested on Thursday, one of them for allegedly threatening an election officer.
Munirathnam Naidu, a city corporator and Congress candidate, and Venkatesh Gowda from the Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP), both contesting from Rajarajeshwarinagar assembly constituency, were arrested.
While Mr Naidu was nabbed for allegedly threatening an election officer and obstructing him from performing his duty, Mr Gowda was arrested in connection with pending cases of assault and atrocity.
Further investigations into the matter are underway, said police.
