UP polls: Election Commission transfers bureaucrats

Lucknow: The Election Commission on Saturday transferred two IAS and three IPS officers, including the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police of Siddharthnagar, who were embroiled in a controversy recently, official sources said.

District Magistrate Siddharthnagar, V Chaitra has swapped places with District Magistrate Panchsheelnagar, Saurav Babu, they said.

Among the IPS officers, Superintendent of Police Siddharthnagar Mohit Gupta will take place of SP Farrukhabad O P Sagar, who goes to Railways Allahabad.

SP police headquarter Allahabad, D K Rai, has been posted as new SP of Siddharthnagar, the sources said.

The development comes a day after state IPS Association had demanded action against Divisional Commissioner Basti, Anurag Srivastava, for allegedly misbehaving with Mohit Gupta on January 25 during a meeting.

Sources said the issue of alleged lack of coordination between Gupta and Chaitra was at the centre of the discord.

The Association had yesterday handed over a memorandum to the DGP and the Chief Electoral Officer demanding an inquiry and a written apology by the IAS officer.
