Uttarakhand polls may be delayed because of cold
New Delhi: The Election Commission is considering re-scheduling the elections in the hilly state of Uttarakhand.  The state is meant to vote for its next government on January 30.  Results will be declared along with those from other states like Uttar Pradesh on March 6.

However, the BJP has asked for the voting in Uttarakhand to be re-scheduled because of the severe cold wave in the North. The BJP is looking to be re-elected.

Sources in the Election Commission say that they will wait for a few days to monitor the weather.  If temperatures remain low enough to affect voter turnout, the Commission may change the date for voting in some constituencies.
