Chennai:
Vaiko led MDMK is the latest entrant to the seat sharing fall out. The party's long term alliance with Jayalalithaa'AIADMK could not withstand the pulls and pressures of seat sharing and the former decided to call it a day.
Tamil Nadu goes to the polls on April 13.
The MDMK was unhappy with the number of seats AIADMK offered its party.
The MDMK wanted 21 seats but Jayalalithaa was willing to give only 12.
Last time the MDMK had contested in 35 seats. Vaiko pressed for at least 31 seats but Jayalalithaa was not in a generous mood.
Jayalalithaa has roped in actor Vijaykanth, whose DMDK was given 41 seats and that accounts for the paltry seats offered to Vaiko's party. Other allies like CPI(M) and CPI lost one seat each.
"AIADMK's approach towards MDMK has hurt our cadres," said Vaiko.
The MDMK has a vote share of around 4.5 % share in Tamil Nadu. The MDMK will now boycott Tamil Nadu and Puducherry polls.
