We prefer friendly ties with the centre: Karunanidhi
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M. Karunanidhi said yesterday that he prefers to have a friendly relationship with the central government so as to get welfare schemes for the people of the state.

Addressing an election rally here, he said: "I want to get schemes for the state in a friendly manner from the centre. We will raise our voice for our rights while extending our hands for a relationship."

According to Karunanidhi, even the former chief minister and DMK founder C.N. Annadurai had written that self rule in the state should be secured in cooperation with the centre and not by fighting it.

Karunanidhi said the DMK is having an alliance with the Congress for the benefit of the people and to chalk out people friendly policies and not for his own benefit.

According to him the alliance is certainly not for somebody to get some post.

Tamil Nadu goes to polls April 13 to elect 234 legislators.

The DMK is facing the elections aligning with Congress, PMK, VCK and others.
