Chatra/Ranchi:
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad today said if his party-supported government was formed in Jharkhand, Dalits will become priests in temples.
"Puri Shankaracharya say Harijans should not be allowed to go inside temples. If we form the government, Dalits and people from backward classes will be made priests in temples," Lalu said on Tuesday.
Addressing an election meeting in support of the party's Chatra candidate and sitting MLA Janardhan Paswan, Lalu said Asaram Bapu was in jail because of his "character".
The Shankaracharya, who was in Ranchi recently, had denied media reports quoting him saying that Dalits should not enter Hindu temples.
