Mumbai: The Bombay High Court yesterday granted bail to an accused in Aurangabad arms haul case. The court delivered its order through video conferencing from a bench of the Bombay high Court at Aurangabad.
The accused, Javed Ahmed Abdul Majid, has been in jail for the past seven years. He had allegedly helped a co-accused to park a vehicle which carried the arms and ammunition. He is one of the first accused to get bail in the case.
While granting the bail, the court directed him to furnish a surety of Rs 50,000 and attend the ongoing trial.
The bail application had been moved by lawyers of the NGO Jamiat-Ulama-e-Maharashtra which provides free legal aid to the Muslim youth arrested on the charges of terrorism.
18 more people were arrested later in the case. A huge cache of arms and ammunition had been seized from the vehicle and the case came to be known as the Aurangabad arms haul case.
