Aurangabad: A man and his wife were killed while their three children were seriously injured when a car fell into a canal in Aurangabad district of Bihar today.
The incident happened at a place under Barun Police Station in the district along National Highway 2.
The deceased have been identified as 32-year-old Sunil Singhand his wife Sandhya Devi.
Barun Station House Officer (SHO) Sanjay Kumar Sinha said, "Singh was driving the car, when he lost control over the vehicle. It swerved away from the road and fell into Dengra canal running close by. The family was going from Dhanbad in Jharkhand to their village in Bhojpur district here."
The SHO said the locals quickly pulled out the persons trapped in the car. Singh died while being taken to Narayani Medical College and Hospital in neighbouring Rohtas district, while his wife died while undergoing treatment there.
The children are admitted in the hospital and the police is trying to contact their relatives.
