Aurangabad:
A woman was hacked to death and another injured when a man attacked them with an axe by dubbing them as witches in Ambedkar Nagar's Hannaiya village in Bihar's Aurangabad district on Wednesday, police said.
Claiming that his kin had died recently due to black magic performed by the two women in the village, the man, identified as Ramji Bhuiyan attacked Ghaneshwari Devi (40) and Santoshi Devi (45) with an axe killing the former on the spot and injuring the other woman, the sources said.
The injured was rushed to a hospital where her condition was stated to be out of danger, they said.
The local people subsequently overpowered the attacker and handed him over to the police, the sources said adding that a murder case has been registered against the former.
