After the successful launch of an upgraded platform for electric vehicles with an aim at the whole idea of charging time, BYD is up to something groundbreaking again. The brand has just showcased its plan of charging as fast as pumping gas with a 1000-volt architecture. Now, BYD has introduced a revolutionary electric drive motor that achieves a top speed of 30,511 rpm, a new record in the electric vehicle (EV) sector. Recent performance tests of the new motor have revealed impressive acceleration capabilities pushing the boundaries of EV technology.
The high performance of the motor is achieved because to some cutting-edge features-
- High-Energy Magnets: Using N50EH magnets increases magnetic performance by 18%, decreasing current losses by 44%.
- Ultra-Thin Silicon Steel Sheets: Using 0.2mm sheets reduces iron loss, enhancing overall efficiency.
- Optimized Winding Design: A 10-layer short-distance winding saves copper loss by 21%.
- Improve Balance Accuracy: Dynamic balance accuracy within 50 mg breaks the industry level of 100 mg, giving a smoother run.
- Advanced Cooling System: BYD's homegrown 1500V silicon carbide (SiC) power module paired with direct cooling refrigerant technology ensures efficient heat dissipation.
Integration into Mass Models
To the surprise, BYD intends to equip the high-performance motor to outfit its mid-range Han L sedan and Tang L SUV cars.
Performance trials have shown impressive acceleration abilities:
- Han L: 2.7 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h; 4.74 seconds from 100 km/h to 200 km/h.
- Tang L: 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 s; 100 km/h to 200 km/h in 6.19 seconds.
Advancements in Charging Technology
BYD's Super e-Platform, supporting the Han L and Tang L, sets the company's new-generation pure electric technology platform. It has been thoroughly upgraded in core areas like motors, batteries, and electronic control redefining in-depth integration of electrification. Backed by new technology, the Super e-Platform facilitates megawatt-level fast charging.
