Audi A8L came with a V6 engine
Audi India has removed the A8L sedan and the RS5 Sportback from its India website. Both of these models were sold in the country as completely built units (CBUs), which was a contributing factor to their inflated costs. Specifically, the luxury sedan, A8L came priced at Rs 1.63 crore (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the RS5 Sportback had a price tag of Rs 1.13 crore (ex-showroom). With the elimination of these models, the lineup of the brand in the country is devoid of a flagship sedan and a fossil-fuel-powered RS vehicle.
The Audi A8L held its fort against luxury sedans like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the BMW 7 Series in the Indian as well as global market. Under the hood, the sedan with the long wheelbase had a 3.0-litre turbo-charged V6 petrol engine with Quattro all-wheel-drive. This unit was tuned to produce 340 hp of power to suit the needs of the five-seater sedan. It is to be noted that the next generation of the A8 is on the cards for the international market and will likely be launched with an electric-only powertrain.

Similar to the A8L, the Audi RS5 Sportback is nearing the end of its production run, as the refreshed version of the A5 has already debuted internationally, indicating its imminent arrival in the Indian market. The new A5 is also set to take the place of the A4, suggesting that the A4 may soon be discontinued in favor of an all-electric variant. As a result, the Audi RSQ8 will become the sole RS model available in the Indian market.
The RS5 Sportback is equipped with a 2.9L twin-turbocharged V6 engine that delivers 450 bhp. This vehicle competes with rivals such as the BMW M4 as well as the Mercedes Benz C43 AMG.
