BYD Sealion 05 Revealed: Top 5 Things About Prospective Atto 3 Successor

BYD, the electric vehicle manufacturer recently unveiled the Sealion 05 EV as its eighth all-electric SUV. Set to launch in China on March 25, the electric car shares its name with a plug-in hybrid vehicle in the automaker's lineup which is on sale in the international market. However, it distinguishes itself from the vehicle with its unique styling and dimensions. Furthermore, it is based on a brand-new technology platform. Here are all the highlights of the new electric SUV.

BYD Sealion 05 EV: Design

BYD Sealion 05 EV comes with a completely new styling while keeping the BYD DNA intact. To begin with, it gets a completely new design for the headlamp which seems to be connected. To complement this, the brand has given the SUV a unique design for the bonnet with a lot of contours and lines. All of this is complemented by a unique design for the bumper housing cameras and sensors along with a big air dam. The brand has also given the vehicle a silver skid plate.

Looking at the vehicle from the side, it gets plastic cladding with creases around it. Another thing that grabs attention is a new design for the alloy wheels. Moving to the rear end, the SUV gets a rectangular light bar housing the tail lamps with a smoked effect around LEDs and the BYD logo in the middle.

BYD Sealion 05 EV: Dimensions

The new Sealion 05 EV stands at 4,520 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,630 mm in height. Along with this, it gets a 2,720 mm wheelbase which makes it slightly longer than the plug-in hybrid model in the brand's stable carrying the same name. Introduced two versions, the heavier one weighs 1,780 kg while the relatively lighter one tips the scale at 1,670 kg.

On the inside, the electric SUV has a flat-bottom steering wheel with the instrument cluster integrated into the dashboard. It also gets a 15.6-inch rotatable infotainment system complemented by two vertical AC vents on either side. It is also equipped with features like a wireless charger and onboard refrigerator.

BYD Sealion 05 EV: Battery, Range

The electric SUV comes with two battery pack options: 50 kWh and 60.9 kWh battery pack. The smaller battery pack offers a range of 430 km and has 188 hp of power at its disposal. While the bigger 60.9 kWh battery pack offers a claimed range of 520 km and has 214 hp of power. With a rear-wheel-drive layout both of these vehicles are capable of achieving a top-speed of up to 180 kmph.

BYD Sealion 05 EV: India Launch

BYD has divulged no details regarding the electric SUV's India launch. However, if the brand decides to bring the vehicle to the Indian shore, it will likely compete against the Hyundai Creta EV.
