Hyundai Unveils New Hybrid System; Debuts In Palisade, Compatible With Venue

Hyundai expands hybrid lineup to 14 models, aiming for 1.33 million sales by 2028 in response to the global demand for fuel-efficient vehicles.

Hyundai Motor Company has introduced a new hybrid technology, called the TMED-II system. This system improves fuel efficiency by 45 per cebt and increases power output by 19 per cent compared to the previous model. This marks a major step forward in hybrid performance. Furthermore, it can be tuned for use in a range of vehicles. Initially, it will mark its presence in the Palisade with the 2.5-litre turbo petrol engine. 

Hyundai Unveils TMED-II Hybrid System: Key Details

The TMED-II system has two electric motors, P1 and P2. P1 starts the engine and charges the battery, while P2 drives the vehicle and helps with braking. This setup boosts performance and fuel efficiency, making for a quieter and smoother ride.

Hyundai's new hybrid system works with a new 2.5-liter turbo petrol engine. This setup delivers 334 PS and 460 Nm of torque. It provides a 19% increase in power and a 9% boost in torque compared to the old 2.5-liter turbo engine.
The TMED-II system improves performance and adds new technologies, such as smart regenerative braking and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities. These features increase the value of Hyundai's hybrid vehicles.

Hyundai is expanding its hybrid lineup from 7 to 14 models, incorporating the TMED-II system. This range will include both compact cars and luxury vehicles under the Genesis brand.

The company aims to sell 1.33 million hybrid vehicles worldwide by 2028, a 40 % increase from the previous plan.To meet regional demands, particularly in North America, Hyundai will produce hybrid vehicles at its plant in Georgia, U.S. boosting hybrid sales to 690,000 units by 2030. It will adjust its sales strategy based on demand in each region, including Korea and Europe.

The TMED-II system allows Hyundai to meet different consumer needs and follow global regulations.
