Mahindra Thar Roxx is presently sold with Stealth Black paint scheme
Mahindra & Mahindra recently launched the Scorpio N Carbon Edition in the Indian market. To further expand the range of black versions of their SUVs, the Indian automaker plans to launch the XUV700 Ebony Edition. This will likely be followed by the launch of the Black Edition for the Thar Roxx in the Indian market. Ahead of any official announcement, Pratap Bose, Chief Design and Creative Officer, Mahindra & Mahindra, has teased the upcoming version of the off-road capable SUV in a social media post featuring John Abraham.
In the post with a short video clip, Bollywood actor John Abraham talks about his taste for black cars. He also mentions that all the cars in his garage are black. Meanwhile, the caption on the post read, "When it's a Thar ROXX in the works for a special someone, the anticipation knows no bounds. The countdown is on." All of this hints at the launch of the Black Edition version of the SUV, considering the ongoing trend.

The all-black version of the Mahindra Thar Roxx will likely get a new edition-specific name like Carbon Edition or Ebony Edition, which have been used for the Scorpio N and XUV700, respectively. Furthermore, it is expected to feature all black elements, with black alloy wheels and black interiors. Chances are, it will be based on top-spec trims of the SUV.
Presently, Mahindra Thar Roxx is sold in six trim levels: MX1, MX3, AX3L, MX5, AX5L, and AX7L. It comes at a starting price of Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 23.09 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-of-the-range variant. With the black-treatment, the prices of the SUV might see a slight increase.
This version of the vehicle is likely to bring only aesthetic changes. The SUV will continue to be powered by either a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol engine or the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. These power units are paired with either an MT or an AT. It also gets the option of a 4x4 system with the diesel engine.
