Kia India launched the facelift version of the Sonet in the Indian market in January 2024. The updates in the compact SUV were meant to improve its appeal for the consumers and it seems to have worked for the manufacturer. This can be confirmed as the Sonet has crossed 1 lakh sales milestone in the country. It is to be noted that the SUV is one of the popular models in its segment and has achieved a significant popularity in its segment.
The South Korean brand also revealed that around 10,000 units of the compact SUV are sold each month. The SUV is currently sold in 22 variants, among which 79 percent of the buyers preferred to have the variation with a sunroof. The consumers of the compact SUV also get various choices of powertrain including 1.2-litre NA petrol, 1.0-litre turbo petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine.

Kia has provided insights into customer preferences for the Sonet, indicating that 76 percent - or about three out of four of consumers choose either the 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine or the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, with the remaining 24 percent selecting the 1.5-litre diesel option. Notably, 34 percent selected either an automatic transmission or an intelligent manual transmission (iMT).
Presently, the Kia Sonet is sold at a starting price of Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes against models like Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV3XO.
