Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP) has announced the crash test results of Mahindra's born electric SUVs, the XEV 9e and BE 6. As the brand might have expected, both the EVs have come out with flying colours scoring five-star safety ratings for both adult and child occupant protection. It is to be noted that the agency tested the highest-spec variants of both the electric SUV. However, the safety ratings are applicable for all the variants available in the Indian market. Here are all the details of the test results.

Mahindra XEV 9e

With a five-star rating, the Mahindra XEV 9e, managed to get a full 32 points for adult occupant protection during the crash tests. While it got 45 out of 49 points for the child occupant protection crash tests. Furthermore, the EV scored a full 16 points for AOP in the deformable barrier and side movable deformable barrier tests. BNCAP awarded the vehicle an "OK" rating for the side pole impact test. It is to be noted that the variant subjected to the tests came equipped with front and side airbags as standard while the knee airbags are available as an optional extra.

Mahindra BE 6

Very similar to the XEV 9e, the Mahindra BE 6 also scored a five-star rating. With this rating, the electric SUV is among the cars with the best BNCAP ratings. Diving into the details, the electric SUV scored 31.97 out of 32 points for adult occupant crash safety rating. Meanwhile, the EV got 45 points out of 49 for child occupant crash tests.

Mahindra XEV 9e, BE 6: Safety Features

Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6 are both based on the brand's INGLO platform. They come equipped with a long list of safety features like the Level 2 ADAS suite, which offers lane change, emergency steering assist, blind spot detection, cross traffic alert, front collision warning, and more. Along with this, the EVs also get a 360-degree camera, Heads-up Display (HUD), a TPMS, blind view monitor, secure 360 live view and recording functionality, an intelligent electronic brake booster, electronic parking brake, front fog lamps, cornering lamps, auto booster lamps, and seven airbags.
