Maruti Suzuki, India's largest manufacturer in the passenger vehicle segment has announced its sales numbers for January 2025. Based on the latest data, the brand recorded sales of 1,73,599 units in the first month of 2025 showing a y-o-y growth of 4 per cent when compared to 1,66,802 units sold in January 2024. Furthermore, January 2025 became the month with the highest monthly dispatches for the brand in the first ten months of FY2025.
Even with the growth, the mini hatchback segment of the models suffered a decline in sales with models like Alto and S-Presso noticing a dip of 11 per cent (y-o-y). On the other hand, models like WagonR, Baleno, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, and Dzire noticed an uptick in demand with the dispatch of 82,241 units showing a y-o-y growth of around 7 per cent. Similarly, the premium sedan Ciaz showed a growth of 53 per cent with the sales of 768 units.

Recently, Maruti Suzuki's utility vehicle segment has been gaining significant attention from the consumers. As a result, the vehicles like Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Jimny, Invicto, Grand Vitara, and XL6 contributed to the overall numbers with the sales of 65,093 units which is an increased of up to 5 per cent when compared to the same period last month.
In terms of cumulative sales, Maruti Suzuki's SUVs are helping to offset the decline in sales of passenger cars and sedans. From April 2024 to January 2025, total dispatches of SUVs and MPVs reached 5,94,056 units, reflecting a 12 percent y-o-y increase and mitigating the impact of a 9 per cent decrease in car and sedan sales, which fell to 7,41,707 units from 8,11,293 units the previous year.
The total of 1,449,233 units reported in the first 10 months of FY2025 indicates stable sales, as the company delivered only 2,341 more units compared to the 1,446,892 passenger vehicles dispatched during the same period last year.
