Osamu Suzuki started his journey at Suzuki Motor in 1958 and became president in 1978, later also assuming the role of chairman starting in 2000. With his total of 28 years in the chair across two presidential terms, he became the longest-serving leader of the global automotive company.

In June 2015, the presidency was handed over to his son, while Osamu Suzuki continued as chairman and CEO for one additional year. He resigned from the CEO position after a year due to an issue involving a fuel-economy misstatement.

Osamu Suzuki played a key role in shaping the Indian automotive industry. He was pivotal in the decision for the company to enter the Indian market in 1983, which eventually led to a partnership with the Indian government to establish Maruti Udyog Limited. This initiative brought affordable, fuel-efficient vehicles to Indian consumers.

By the 1990s, the collaboration between Maruti and Suzuki had become very well-known, producing over 200,000 units each year and turning India into a manufacturing center for Suzuki vehicles in the region. Suzuki's vision didn't end with automobiles; he built partnerships, explored new markets, and transformed Suzuki Motor into a global brand.

During the 1990s, the joint venture between Maruti and Suzuki gained significant recognition, manufacturing more than 200,000 vehicles annually and positioning India as an important manufacturing hub for Suzuki cars in the area. Osamu Suzuki's strategic vision went beyond just cars; he formed partnerships, explored untapped markets, and aided the growth of Suzuki Motor across the globe.
