Suzuki Jimny five-door was recently launched in Japan
Suzuki Motor Corp recently introduced the Jimny five-door variant in Japan. The SUV has received an overwhelming response in the market with unexpectedly high demand. Manufactured-in-India, the five-door version of the SUV is imported in Japan and was unveiled by the brand on January 30 with the Jimny Nomade moniker. The brand is expected to initiate the deliveries on April 3 and has received 50,000 orders in just four days.
Due to limited supply depending on imports, the off-road capable vehicle now has a long waiting period in the land of the rising sun. Because of this increased waiting period, the brand has temporarily stopped taking bookings for the SUV. As of now, the brand has refrained from sharing any information on when the bookings will open. Furthermore, the OEM has cancelled promotion events in Japan.

The Suzuki Jimny five-door is sold in Japan at a starting price of 2,651,000 yen (Rs 14.88 lakh) for the 5-speed manual variant. Meanwhile, the version with AT costs 2,750,000 yen, equal to Rs 15.43 lakh. On the other hand, the vehicle is priced at Rs 12.74 lakh (ex-showroom) in India which extends up to Rs 14.79 lakh (ex-showroom). It is one of the major rivals for the likes of Mahindra Thar Roxx and Force Gurkha five-door.
The Maruti Suzuki Jimny in India features a 1.5-litre K15B four-cylinder petrol engine. This engine is designed to produce 103 hp of power and 134.2 Nm of maximum torque. It is available with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The manual variant achieves a fuel efficiency of 16.94 kmpl, while the automatic variant provides a mileage of 16.39 kmpl. To enhance its off-road performance, the SUV is equipped with a 4x4 system known as AllGrip Pro.
In terms of safety, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny is equipped with a range of features, including six airbags, ABS, EBD, stability control, hill hold assist, hill descent control, brake assist, a rearview camera, seatbelt pretensioners, an engine immobiliser, and more.
