
Toyota plans to bring back the Celica and the MR2, the iconic cars from the 1990's. In an age where electric cars are gathering eyeballs, this step by the Japanese carmaker must be appreciated. Toyota plans to introduce the Celica, MR2, and Lexus sports cars by 2026. These cars will be part of Toyota's performance lineup. Here are the details you must check out.
Toyota Celica And MR2
Recently, Toyota revealed the G20E engine at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon. This 2.0-liter engine developed by Toyota will give out a peak power of 400 HP, in the commercial version car, and up to 600 HP for the sports version.

The G20E engine, displayed at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2025 was demonstrated as a fitment for the Toyota GR Yaris and was fixed behind the rear seats. However, the brand suggested that the GR Yaris mule was just for the display, this indicates that the Celica will give space for the engine under the bonnet. The Toyota Celica will also get a four-wheel drive system. Also, Toyota Celica will be competing with its rivals at the World Rally Championship, likely with the GT-Four nameplate.
Toyota Lexus Sports Car
The Japanese carmaker is also under plans to replace the Lexus LSR with the new Lexus, the Lexus LFR. The prototype of the LFR was spotted at the Spa-Francorchamps and the Nurburgring Nordschleife. As per reports, Toyota will also introduce a road-going version of the car.
The Toyota Lexus LFR will get a turbocharged V8 engine, capable of producing a peak power output between 500HP-600HP.
