While India waits with bated breath for the launch of the Yamaha Tenere 700, the Japanese company took the wraps of the Tenere 700 Rally GYTR, which will participate in the 2025 Carta Rallye Morocco, a 2,000 km rally raid in the Sahara. Now GYTR stands for Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing, which has a variety of race and rally-spec parts that customers can purchase off-the-shelf to trick out their Yamaha motorcycles. The Tenere 700 Rally GYTR is based on the T7 Rally, which in itself is decked out with rally parts and has significant updates over the standard model.

The intake and exhaust on the rally motorcycle have been updated, with the regular exhaust being replaced by a full system from Akrapovic. The motorcycle also gets an Aluminium billet cover for better accessibility and servicing during the rally-raid and for revised final drive gear ratios as well. The motorcycle also gets a single disc rotor with a Brembo calliper up front, from the usual two, in order to reduce weight. The single disc is from an Italian company called 'Braking'. At the rear is a new disc too, from Braking. The front end now gets a KYB closed cartridge USD fork with 270 mm travel and a billet Aluminium triple clamp along with a Scotts steering damper. At the rear is a Paioli shock absorber with variable flow rate pistons.
The middleweight ADV also gets an additional 13.6 litres of fuel tank apart from the standard 16-litre tank for better range. The TFT instrument console is replaced by a carbon fibre rally tower, with a rally-book holder and trip computers for navigation. Also, the ADV gets Takasago Excel heavy duty rims, with a narrower rear rim, allowing for the Michelin rally tyres to fit in. Lastly, the motorcycle also gets a carbon-fibre bash-plate, a single-piece rally seat and new graphics.
There will be two motorcycles participating in the Saharan Rally, piloted by Alessandro Botturi, a two-time International Six Days Trials Champion and a Dakar Rally veteran and Gautier Paulin, BMX and motocross champion and a 5-time Motocross of Nations Champion.
