Bangalore:
A four-year-old boy drowned after he slipped and fell into a water sump at an under-construction building site in Bangalore on Tuesday.
Shankar, a resident of the area, was reported missing by his mother. "Shankar was accompanying his mother and after some time she found her son missing. She started a search for Shankar, but without success," Police said.
Police, who launched search operations, found the boy in the sump and pulled him out dead.
The sump has been dug up by a contractor for building residential premises.
The incident comes close on the heels of an 18-month old boy falling to into a 20-feet deep pit at Chukma village in Gurgaon. But he was quickly rescued.
Earlier, four-year-old girl Mahi was pulled out dead from a 70-feet-deep borewell near Manesar after being trapped in it for four days, triggering a national outrage.
