"I had said we would bring culprits to book, am happy to say that within 48 hours of registration of case we have succeeded in arresting people, said Police Commissioner MN Reddi. "The individuals have confessed. It boils down to eve-teasing, they found women without men's company and harassed them," he said.
The men allegedly tried to force open the car's door. One of the men had threatened to smash the car's windows if they were not rolled down by the women, according to a police complaint.
The women then phoned their husbands for help.
