Bangalore: CCTV footage of a person resembling the Bangalore ATM suspect, who attacked a woman with a machete and robbed her last week, has been seen in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

The footage is from an ATM in Kadiri; the man is wearing the same shirt and even carrying what appears to be the same bag as the Bangalore suspect, who is still at large.

On Tuesday, a woman was attacked inside an unguarded ATM in the heart of Bangalore by a man armed with a machete. His face is seen clearly in the CCTV footage that captured the crime. The woman's phone, which he had snatched, surfaced in Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.

There have been reports that he had used the ATM cards of a woman in Andhra Pradesh who had been attacked and later died.

Over 1,000 ATMs have been shut down in Bangalore after the police's orders to post security guards at every such outlet expired on Sunday.

NDTV visited the ATM where the attack took place, situated opposite the City Corporation buildings. A security guard was posted there three days ago. But he didn't even have a lathi, and told us his employers had said that one would be provided.

The woman who was attacked in Bangalore, Jyothi Uday, is still in hospital in the Intensive Care Unit or ICU. She underwent brain and plastic surgery but doctors believe that she will make a full recovery.
