When an auto-driver found five lakhs left behind in his three-wheeler, he knew exactly what to do. K Panduranga drove straight to the police station and handed over the bag full of money.
Senior Bangalore police officials have given him a letter of appreciation. Their gratitude is not a patch on that of the passenger who had forgotten the cash. On January 14, Pavanacharya withdrew the money from his bank to pay for his brother's medical treatment. When he reached his home, he left the auto he had flagged down without collecting his bag.
The money has been returned to him by the police.
