Bangalore:
Burglars struck the house of Ramdev, joint commissioner of Income Tax department, in Ulsoor on Saturday night and decamped with Rs 2 lakh and gold jewellery worth more than Rs 5 lakh.
The incident came to light when Ramdev and his family returned home after attending the marriage ceremony of his close relative.
Ramdev had left two employees of his friend to keep watch on the house. The employees, Nagedra and Ramesh, were sleeping on the ground floor when the burglars broke in. They entered the house by breaking open the window on the first floor and opened the cupboard using the key which was lying near it.
Ramesh had left to his native place Kanakapura when the incident came to light. Police caught up with him and took both Nagendra and Ramesh for interrogation. Both men were released after the investigation, which found that the duo was not involved.
