Fire fighters and Civil Defence personnel clearing the debris of a building which collapsed at Adugodi area in Bangalore on Tuesday.
Bangalore:
Five persons were killed and two others injured when a dilapidated house collapsed and brought down some other adjoining ramshackle residential units in Bangalore today.
Bodies of the victims -- two labourers from Uttar Pradesh, a two-year-old child and two women -- were recovered from under the debris, police and fire officials said.
The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital.
The house located on a godown collapsed first and four others adjacent to the building, inhabited mostly by labourers, crumbled under its impact, the officials said.
A police official said the building's walls were weak and the heavy downpour a few days ago had made it worse.
Police said a case had been registered against the building owner.
Five brigade personnel were engaged in rescue and relief work, they said.
