Bangalore:
A health inspector working for Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) was caught red-handed by lokayukta police, while accepting bribe of Rs 14,000 in Bangalore today.
Based on the complaint lodged by one K M Arunkumar, the Lokayukta sleuths nabbed Chikkanna, a Health Inspector working in Maruthisevangar ward, a Lokayukta release said.
The complainant Arunkumar had applied for a trade licence for his shop. Chikkanna allegedly demanded Rs 35,000 from the complainant to accord him a licence, police said.
Later, Chikkanna agreed to do the work for Rs 29000 and received an advance of Rs 15,000 and demanded the remaining balance of Rs 14000 again, police said.
The complainant then alerted the Lokayukta police who nabbed him while he was accepting Rs 14,000.
Further investigation into the case is on.
