Bangalore:
When children across the globe were celebrating Father's Day on Sunday, one man ruthlessly assaulted his ageing parents and threw them out of their own home.
All hell broke loose when 78-year-old Sitaiah and wife Venkatalakshmamma decided to give their ancestral home, worth around Rs 45 lakh, in Mahalakshmi layout to their younger son. Angered over their decision, their elder son Sitaramu barged in at 3 pm and after assaulting them, threw them out of their own home.
The couple approached the police commissioner, fearing the wrath of Sitaramu, who had several criminal cases against him. The case was then directed to a local court by the commissioner and they approached G T Ajjappa, ACP, North Division (Bangalore Police). He said, "We definitely sympathise with the couple's condition right now, as they are aged. Also they were beaten up and thrown out of their own house by their own son."
Sitaiah informed that he was not keen on handing over his property to Sitaramu for very good reasons. "My eldest son has a criminal record and I fear that he would misuse our home for anti-social activities or mortgage it. Hence, we decided to give it to our younger son," said a teary eyed Sitaiah.
Sub-Inspector Shoba from Mahalakshmi layout police station said, "Sitaramu was earlier involved in 17 cases, including three of intentional assault. He was also involved in a planned acid attack against a woman, but acquitted in all cases so far."
Ajjappa claimed that the couple had earlier bailed Sitaramu when he was held for various cases. "The couple was very supportive of their son and had helped him several times. Now the same person has attacked them," he said. The Mahalakshmi Layout police have issued a stringent warning to Sitaramu and ensured that his parents have been placed back in their home.
