Bangalore:
A program manager from an IT major has filed a complaint with the Bangalore police, alleging character assassination by an unidentified person. The complainant has been working with the company since March 2009, and looks after IT academy programs.
In his complaint, he said that the incident came to light when one of his colleagues forwarded him links from various online boards, asking him to check series of allegations made against him. The website is an online forum where people can share their complaints against the companies and individuals.
The complaints not only referred to him as a homosexual and having affairs with three colleagues, but also accused of him selling company vouchers illegally and making money. The victim said that the e-mails have been in circulation for many months now, which have not only defamed him, but also brought disrepute to the company.
Suspecting the handiwork of an acquaintance, he said that someone had stolen confidential data from his laptop and used it to defame him. He also suspected that someone from his previous office might have been involved. The police are seeking the help of the Cyber Crime Cell to crack the case.
He also requested the police to remove this complaint post from the website to prevent further damage.
"We wanted to track down the IP address from where the complaint mail was generated, so we are seeking the help of cyber crime officials," said an official from the Tyagraj Nagar police station.
