Bangalore: A 22 year-old Infosys employee died on Monday night after falling from her 4th floor balcony. According to police, Swagatika Desai of Jharkhand was with her fiance on the balcony when she fell. Police suspect that Desai's fiance Robin Mandal, who works at APC Company in Jigani may be involved in her death. Doubts have been raised since Robin usually spends the weekend and not week-days at Desai's rented accommodation in Konappana Agrahara in Electronic City Police station limits.
Police are also wondering why he did not attempt to save her from falling to her death and also suspect that the two were drunk at the time of the incident. Desai's father, a bank manager in Jharkhand is expected to arrive in the city today with other family members to claim his daughter's body.
Meanwhile police have taken Mandal into custody and said that they will question Desai's parents to shed some light on the case if necessary. PI Premsai Gundappa Rai, Electronic Police Station said, "We cannot say yet whether this is an accident or not, but we have begun gathering evidence and are investigating. We transferred the body to Apollo Hospital and we are waiting for her parents to arrive and may question them."
