Bangalore: It may sound like a script from Bollywood, but this murder case that has shocked Bangalore. The murder of a techie, Sourabh Rastogi, a 35-year-old senior manager at a prestigious IT company in his own apartment by a colleague on Sunday has taken a new twist.

It appears that Sourabh's wife could be directly involved in the murder. Sourabh's colleague, Reshvin Chengappa, a 26-year-old assistant manager was arrested after police recovered CCTV footage from Sun City Apartments in South-East Bangalore where Sourabh lived, on the night of the murder.

Reshvin was the last person in Sourabh's apartment before the police broke into his house after neighbours complained that he was not answering his phone. Reshvin, who was taken into custody, confessed to killing Sourabh because of his love for Sourabh's wife - Ankisha Rastogi. Reshvin stabbed his senior colleague multiple times and then slit his throat with a hope that he would be able to marry Ankisha.

"Sourabh Rastogi was working in Genpact and his wife was also in Genpact, one more person Reshvin was also working there. Reshvin had developed friendship with the wife of Sourabh. They were in touch with each other through mobile phone. He became too possessive about her. Sourabh and Ankisha were planning to move to the US on the 27 of June. On the night of the murder, the accused entered the flat saying he would help with packing. He carried a knife and attacked Sourabh," said R Auradhkar, Police Commissioner of Bangalore.

Sourabh's wife was in Pune at the time of the murder. But she received text messages from the accused after the murder. "Lot of electronic evidence was collected and it was concluded that Sourabh's wife and Reshvin had constant communication and they were in touch very often. He visited their home very often. We cannot confirm now if she is involved in the conspiracy but cannot deny it either." Mr Auradhkar added.
