Bangalore:
Bangalore police have detained a man for questioning in the murder case of Payal Surekha, a 29-year-old woman employee of an IT company. The man is Payal's husband's estranged friend.
The police acted on her husband Anand Narayan Mishra's suspicion. He had a fallout with this friend some time ago.
Police yesterday found a witness who could be crucial in tracking down the person who may have murdered Payal.
The witness is Payal's neighbour who gave directions to a man looking for her house.
Payal from Assam was found murdered at her J P Nagar flat in Bangalore on Friday evening. She was a senior technical assistant with an IT giant.
She was stabbed several times in the throat and other parts.
The incident came to light after her husband Anand Narayan Mishra, who stays in Orissa, was unable to reach her over the phone. He then called the landlord who found the body.
Her husband had left Banglore for Orissa on Thursday leaving.
Police sources say prima facie evidence showed that there wasn't a forced entry into the apartment.
Payal's mobile phone is missing from the house. Call details of Payal's mobile phone are being verified.
