A 15-year-old girl committed suicide by jumping from her 7th floor apartment in J P Nagar on yesterday evening at 7 pm. She died on the spot with multiple injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Tanya, a SSLC student at Kumaran's School. "Her father is an IT executive and mother is a housewife," a police official said.
This is the first student casualty this year. The SSLC exams are scheduled from March 15, and police suspect that the fear of exams might be the reason behind this extreme step.
They added that preliminary enquiries have revealed that Tanya was poor at her studies. PI SK Umesh said that they have taken a case of unnatural death, and are trying to ascertain other reasons behind the suicide.
