A teenage girl's infatuation turned into a nightmare not only for her parents but also for her boyfriend who got arrested on charges of kidnapping. His only crime -- taking his girlfriend to an amusement park in the middle of the night.
Puneet Sabarwal, a 21-year-old college student, was in love with a 13-year-old girl. The couple had made plans of going to WonderLa, an amusement park on the outskirts of the city.
On December 23, the girl packed her clothes and without informing her parents left with Puneet at around 3 am in his car.
But her father woke up 15 minutes later, and found that she was not in the house. Upon inquiry, the building security informed him that she had left with someone in a car some time ago. They had also taken down the car's registration number.
The girl's parents were aware of Puneet, since he had written several letters to her saying that he would wait for a few more years to get married, since she is still a minor. The parents
showed the letters to the police.
The girl came back home the same day, but by that time, her father had already lodged a kidnap complaint with the Siddapura police station.
Puneet was arrested on December 24. The couple was produced the same day before the court, where the girl was handed over to her parents and Puneet was later released on bail.
