Exam fear drives fifteen-year-old girl to suicide

Bangalore: Examination stress allegedly drove a 15-year-old girl to jump to her death from the seventh floor of an apartment building in J P Nagar in the district on Wednesday, the police said.

Thanaya, the victim, was a student of 10th standard in Kumaran's High School, the police said.

"Depression and severe examination fear is stated to be the cause behind the suicide", Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Division) Sonia Narang told PTI.

According to the victim's parents, Thanaya was depressed for the past one week and was nervous about the forthcoming 10th standard examinations for which she had been counseled by the doctors.

Thanaya, who has a younger sister, is the daughter of an executive working with an IT major, police said.
