Bangalore: Security concerns surrounding Facebook have gone beyond online. On late Sunday night in Electronics City, a 24-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped by five men--all suspected to be her Facebook contacts.
A native of Jharkand, now residing in Hosur, the girl is a management trainee working in a leading watch manufacturing company. She has been staying in a ladies' hostel in Hosur. Every weekend she visited her younger sister residing at Electronic City.
On Sunday late night, she was on her way to her sister's house with her Facebook friend. All of a sudden a car with five men pushed the friend down, forced the girl into the car and drove away, said police commissioner Shankar M Bidari.
Strangely, on Monday afternoon, she was dropped back to her sister's place by a mysterious man on a bike. The police are clueless about the biker, and the girl wasn't very cooperative in revealing the stranger's whereabouts. She hasn't said much about the kidnapping, save a brief statement which the police have decided to keep confidential.
However, the police have got the registration number of the car used by kidnappers.
The girl has been sent for medical examination. The test reports are yet to be generated. Efforts are on to nab the kidnappers.
