Varun Gandhi shared some of his very personal poetry at the Bengaluru Poetry Festival.
BENGALURU:
The inaugural Bengaluru Poetry Festival that is being held this weekend was headlined by many renowned poets. One young poet, belonging to a family associated with politics, drew considerable interest among the audience.
The Gandhi member, Varun Gandhi, shared some of his very personal poetry at the Festival. His most recent poem was written a few days ago.
His work received a positive response from the audience at the Festival.
"People had a public and a private face," said a young woman visitor, adding, she was pleasantly surprised that Mr Gandhi had shared such personal poetry. Another man said he has enjoyed some of the images in the English poems.
BJP's Varun Gandhi, the author of two books of poetry, belongs to a family of notable writers including his great grandfather, Jawaharlal Nehru. His mother, Maneka Gandhi, has written extensively on animal welfare issues and has a very popular book of baby names to her credit.
Some Indian politicians- from Atal Behari Vajpayee to Kapil Sibal- have shared their poetry with the world, but they are few and far between. However, Varun Gandhi's poems had that additional curiosity value.
