Bengaluru: A college student in Bengaluru shared on social media a harrowing 45 minutes when she was locked in a bus after her friend had a fight with the conductor. The conductor has been arrested based on a video that she posted after the incident on Tuesday.

In a Facebook post that has now been removed, the young woman said she was detained just outside a police station in the Yelahanka area. "I began to feel a sense of panic so I tried to kick the glass open, but it didn't work, then I tried to get out throughout the Emergency Door, but that was JAMMED SHUT. I screamed for what was 45 minutes, but nobody would let me out, instead the driver reached in from the window and grabbed the key and fled."

The student said she was returning from college when the conductor "picked a fight with my northeastern friend" and began to abuse him for standing with her. When the fight turned physical, a crowd gathered around and allegedly blamed her friend.

The friend ran away fearing that he was going to get beaten up, the student wrote.

The conductor then stopped the bus at the police station and allegedly tried to force the woman to go with him to the police. When she refused to go, the crowd allegedly heckled her.

"Before I knew it the bus was empty and the people were standing outside the bus, this is when the conductor decided to LOCK ME INSIDE THE BUS. When I ordered him to release me he refused and the police said he wouldn't open the bus till my friend arrives at the police station! I was furious and started screaming at them and the passerby no the street, but no one wanted to help. I was shocked how this was all taking place in the presence of police, outside a police station, on the main road!"

The door was opened after almost an hour when the friend arrived at the police station, alleges the woman. The police say the woman didn't file a complaint, but she alleges that they discouraged her to press charges.
