Bengaluru: Imagine 100 concert-quality speakers belting out your favourite songs as you run for fitness during a marathon.
Well, the dream came true for many people in Bengaluru on Saturday. So, instead of a laid back weekend, over 7,000 people chose the 'The Music Run', a unique experience of fun, entertainment and health.
The 5 km-long track located at Clarks Exotica Hotel near Bengaluru's international airport and saw a huge turnout of fitness and music enthusiasts.
While marathons aren't new to the city, a non-competitive one with no-age bar and the freedom to groove to the tunes of international artist is what makes 'The Music Run' the fastest growing trend.
Another unique feature of the event was that the music was crowd-sourced. Participants registering for the event were asked to vote for their favourite songs across 5 genres - Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, Old School and Dance.
The selected top five songs were played on loop during the marathon.
A perfect blend of fitness and fun is how co-founder of Baseline Ventures, a sports marketing company, Vishal Jaison describes this unique format. "What started as a one-off event in Malaysia 3 years ago has now reached 40 cities in over 18 countries".
